Privacy Policy

Welcome to SpacepadX, built by Ho Ye Lam and Kin-Yee ("SpacepadX", "Kin-Yee", "we", "us", or "our"). This privacy policy explains how we handle information when you use the SpacepadX website and the SpacepadX app for iOS and iPadOS.

SpacepadX is designed as a simple launch-tracking app. It does not require an account, and we do not ask you to submit personal profile information to browse rocket launches.

Launch Data and Network Requests

SpacepadX loads launch, launchpad, provider, vehicle, media, weather, webcast, and related mission data from the SpacepadX API. These requests are necessary to show upcoming launches, recent launches, launch sites, launch details, watch options, and refreshed schedule data.

Launch schedules and related metadata may come from external launch data sources through the SpacepadX API. The app may also load remote images, provider logos, thumbnails, map imagery, webcast URLs, official information links, and other public launch resources needed to present launch details.

Local Storage

SpacepadX stores app data locally on your device so the app can open quickly and continue showing previously loaded information when the network is unavailable. Local storage can include launch lists, launch details, launchpads, linked launch history, weather and link metadata, sync metadata, thumbnails or image cache data, user settings, and launch reminder intent.

Settings such as map style and units are stored locally through iOS storage. Launch reminder records are stored locally so SpacepadX can show, update, or cancel reminders you created.

Location

SpacepadX can show your current location on the launch map after you explicitly grant iOS When In Use location permission. Location access is optional and is used to show where you are relative to launch sites.

Precise device location stays on your device. SpacepadX does not send your precise device location to the SpacepadX API, Mixpanel, or Sentry. If the launchpad map feature is enabled, the app may use your current location on device to choose a broad continent filter; this does not require sending your precise coordinates to our API.

Notifications and Calendar

SpacepadX can schedule local notifications when you choose to create a launch reminder. Reminders are local to your device and are scheduled for one hour before liftoff when the selected launch has an actionable scheduled time.

SpacepadX can also open Apple's Calendar event editor with a launch event draft. The app fills the draft with launch information such as title, time, location, notes, webcast URL when available, and a one-hour alert. The event is saved only if you confirm it in Apple's Calendar editor.

Analytics and Diagnostics

SpacepadX may use limited analytics and diagnostics to understand whether the app is working well. Sentry and Mixpanel SDKs are linked in the app but remain disabled unless the relevant build configuration is intentionally populated.

When configured, Mixpanel may be used for pseudonymous product analytics such as app version, build, locale, feature interactions, and app events. Mixpanel automatic event tracking is disabled, and configured builds use Mixpanel's EU ingestion endpoint. We do not intentionally send user identity, personal profile data, precise device location, or launch-map location coordinates to Mixpanel.

When configured, Sentry may be used for crash and error diagnostics. Diagnostic reports can include technical information such as app version, operating system, device model, stack traces, and error context. Sentry is configured not to send default personally identifiable information. We do not intentionally include precise device location or personal profile data in diagnostic reports.

Website

The SpacepadX website is a static marketing and support website. If analytics are added to the website in the future, this policy will be updated to describe the provider and the information collected.

Use of Information

We use information to operate SpacepadX, provide the features you request, refresh launch data, preserve local app state, show launch reminders you create, diagnose crashes and errors, improve performance and reliability, answer support requests, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers when necessary to operate SpacepadX, when you direct us to do so, or when required to comply with law, protect rights and safety, prevent abuse, defend against legal claims, or complete a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Third-Party Services

SpacepadX may rely on third-party services and platforms to operate the app, website, app distribution, launch data, maps, diagnostics, analytics, and public launch media. These may include Apple, MapKit, App Store Connect, GitHub Pages, Sentry, Mixpanel, launch data providers, video platforms, official launch-provider websites, and other public resources linked from launch details.

Third-party services have their own privacy policies and practices. SpacepadX is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices of external websites, video platforms, map services, or launch data sources.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed, stored, or used outside of the country where you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may apply depending on where information is processed or stored.

Children

SpacepadX is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a new "Last updated" date and will be effective when posted. If we make significant changes, we may provide a more prominent notice where appropriate.
